Why India needs Modi?

Smaller countries like Israel, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong are economic mights along with bigger USA, Germany, Japan, etc. Even China with a larger population than India and which had lesser GDP growth than India’s in 50s has rapidly moved ahead. Yet, despite some visible impact of Narendramodi Govt during the last five years, India has a long way to catch up with both China and USA. And though the percentage of poverty has fallen, the numbers to catch up still remain staggering. Thanks not just to the Mughal & British invaders but also to the friends of the British, the Congress Party of India.

How did some nations achieve so much? It was all about honesty in leadership, integrity, governance and standards. The quality of standards can change a society. China proved that staggering numbers could be turned into advantage, if people were trained, skilled, productive, hard working and committed. China benefited from being an authoritarian Govt that forced people to obey and accept the goals of the state. The result was visible in international sports events including Olympics even in the eighties. High standards have now propelled China in all spheres which is expected to overtake USA as World’s #1 economy.

What ails India? India like China was an economic super power and was ahead of China for many millennia. The impact of eight hundred years of rule by invaders cut as a wound into the psyche of Hindus and the friends of the British, the Congress Party of India continuously rubbed salt into the simmering wounds for more than half a century. Gandhi foresaw the intentions and incompetence of Congress party and hence demanded it’s winding up. Because of these over bearing external influences, Hindus lost their self worth and became slaves surviving on government mercy. Many Hindus thought it progressive and modern to ape the British and the Nehruvian contempt for their roots, culture and heritage. The Nehru government in India’s formative post independent years lacked ambition, was corrupt, impractical, and wallowed in self importance. So instead of empowering, people were mere slaves to the benign rulers who sought admiration and votes to retain power. Congress feared like British  that if people were empowered, knowledgeable, skilled, independent they may turn as competition and pose threat to families of Congressmen in a democracy. Nehru Govt was totally backward with outdated ideas and  had no vision for India’s future. Give it to them that they excelled in platitudes.

So, India was introduced to Socialism, Secularism, Reservations, QUotas, Public Sector Undertakings, Red tapism, a copy cat British Bureaucracy through UPSC, an unimaginative Planning Commission and all institutions of government acting as door mats of Govt including Judiciary. The excuse for their existence was it helped in the survival of people. The only good thing these rhetory and unorganised institutions did was to provide employment without any accountability and productivity. Yes India and Hindus survived despite Congress rule as they had during Mughal mayhem and British cannibalism. Credit the stamina of the hindu civilisation that stood the test of time.

Let’s learn from successful countries:

All those developed countries have taxes, most of them high. It means that unless the government has resources it cannot service people. So was the case for businesses. All these nations avoid corruption at top level. Money matters for progress. In a digital economy, money directly moves from your wallet to the company to the government or the business. Instantly, directly or indirectly. When they have more funds or more revenue, more projects, schemes, employment happens. India had evaded taxes and had a system in place where evaders enjoyed enormous benefits and no threats for their crime.

Next visible point was developed nations deal in High technology. In India, science education remains redundant wIth focus on animations, card board designs and fun at school. We need hard core science education. We need to encourage high performers instead of trying to make poor students as average students. Let students do what they like to do. But let them achieve, perform. But killing the inspired, motivated, hardworking to facilitate for under performers thorough reservation and quota can not make India great. India’s performers have made USA, Canada, Europe great. It was India’s loss.  Excellence and not mediocrity needs fillip and support. Only productivity, contribution can build nations.Quest for excellence can not be compromised. It’s bull crap to say some are genetically superior and some backward. Some backward societies don’t realise that they are being insulted. Politician Dr Krishnaswamy of Tamilnadu Pudhiya Tamilagam Party wants the tag of Scheduled Caste removed for his community so his community will have a better self esteem.

Research and innovation builds wealth. Sustained focused research. It’s disgusting that our universities lag in research. PhDs are earned by pleasing the Research Guide. No path breaking research but just a qualification for teaching jobs in universities, to become eligible for marriage and some do it merely to flaunt credentials. Even IITs do sub par research. Tiny exceptions give up later because of bureaucracy and politics in research institutions including caste bias.

Prosperous nations support risk taking ventures. Entrepreneurship is not just about being employed. It’s about ambitions, planning, guts, hardwork and perseverance. It is an insult to human intelligence that those who are motivated to be self employed or take up entrepreneurship are not considered as employed by some political parties. Are they unemployed then like those appearing for shouting slangs on prime time tv? The desire for government jobs in many shows people desire a cushy job with no challenges. Such people are disgrace as their contribution is negligible. Entrepreneurship and self employment alone can help.

Modi Effect
PM Narendramodi unlike his predecessors has refused to please the crowd that was accustomed to soft life. Neither does he act like a buffoon entertaining people. So, he has hurt many people. Deeply.

Many businesses ran on black money. Like jewellery business. It is well known those most businesses that ran successfully in post independent India avoided taxes, cooked up accounts, managed tax officials, prevented competition through red tape and were friends of the British. It was impossible to become rich in India without being corrupt and evading taxes. Those who tried to be 200% honest like Alacrity Foundations of Chennai wound up to the chagrin of the honest.

Just before the 2014 elections, a friend of mine was asked for a  bribe of five crores from a top ruling party politician in Delhi. He took cash and reached the farm house of this politician. He was frisked for electronic gadgets and spy devices at two points before he reached a counter. Five crores was counted in minutes by machines and the man in charge pushed a button to unroll a metalled shutter. My friend saw a huge pile of cash reaching the ceiling for a fraction of a second in the room behind shutter. Five crores rupee worth bundles were thrown in. Then the roller came down. My friend estimates there ought to have been many hundreds of crores of cash and possibly thousands depending on denominations. Yes. Demonetisation hurt them. The politician would have used all his contacts to convert them into fresh currency. Whose money were they?

The impact of Modi’s contribution to building India has hurt many. But it has changed for good the lives of millions. The focus on skill training has reached rural areas within last five years. Ease of business and simplified tax structure have been most impressive. Entrepreneurs are being given loans. Technology is finding roots. Price control has been incredible. Change, sustainable change is never easy. So Opposition is focusing on the labour pains instead of the delivery of a healthier India. Because they have to find alternative ways to make living.

The complaint against Modi was he is divisive. Opposition thinks by uniting the Hindus, he has divided India. As they had united minorities against divided Hindus for vote bank politics. Vested elements are distraught that they can’t play their divisive games in the name of religion, caste and regional chauvinism. So bawling at the top of their voice in frustration as they have been nullified.

The Nehru dynasty awarded themselves with India’s national awards. While Modi has been recognised with international awards as India has helped sustain world economy today. Another ten years of Modi will transform India to a super power. More importantly, India is becoming a nation where meritocracy rules and not nepotism. Our grand children’s future is safe with Modi. Do you see it as I see it?
Vande Mataram.

EVR Periyar: A checkup on facts & propaganda

If you were ever revolted by the plethora of roadside statues in India, then credit for this ever rising craze should go to that one man tsunami that brought about that infamous “Statue Culture “ to EV Ramasamy Naicker known as Periyar to his followers. As was usual with Dravidian politics, this focus and obsession of statues  ironically began as an anti idol movement to reason out faith and beliefs of Hinduism to pamper to Islamic and Christian fundamentalists and as admiration of anything western.  Breaking of idols of Lord Ganesha in Salem when Congress ruled Tamilnadu and India during early 1950s didn’t elicit even murmurs of intolerance as Hindus were subdued for over a thousand years and Secular congress was a mere continuation of that colonial British rule that was indifferent and insensitive to majoritarian Hindu sentiments. EVR called Idols as lifeless stones and called out those beliefs of honouring and worshipping them as crass and superstitious. Because of fundamental con

Recent Experience at Kamakshi’s abode Kanchipuram

After going through the trauma of spinal fractures & the surgery that followed it was my first visit to Kanchipuram in three years. Earlier I have had extensive contacts for darshan as a government official but this time we decided we will be just another ordinary disciples.  We had one Chandrasekar, a junior employee now retired to guide us to temples. When we reached Kamakshi temple, we found huge crowd of thousands. I was wondering how we will have darshan of Lokamata but was sure that She will find a way for us. I was apprehensive about standing in the queue as I was scared someone might push me and hurt my back inadvertently. As we paused in confusion, I found a friend who is a Judge of Madras High Court entering the temple in all paraphernalia with his family. I thought of shouting out for him but something deep down restrained me. Our chaperone Chandrasekhar made few honest phone calls and took us near the back door VIP entrance where a hundred were waiting for darshan. Sudd
