A Tirupati Temple Tale. A Let down for Pilgrims

That was more than three decades ago. I got down from a bus to Tirupati from Chennai and took a shuttle service to Tirumala. As I got down, I now realise that I ought to have looked gullible and naive as well as new to the place as many vendors surrounded me to sell Temple related miniatures. One man walked to me with a display of silver looking parts of human body and asked me whether my parents were alive. I nodded, confused as to the purpose of the question . He replied that in order to give my parents longevity, I need to buy a pair of those human body and drop them in the hundi inside the temple. Flustered by the onslaught , I bought them. And chose the free darshan route. I must have walked for about five minutes on a non existent queue and there all of a sudden, I was standing before the majestic Avatar Lord Venkateswara. Spent couple of minutes and even made a sashtanga namaskaram to the Lord. Later, I realised that I had reached there on the eve of Diwali and hence the poor

Never get cunning.. Lesson from PM Vajpayee

My experience and lessons with #Vajpayee. I was private secretary to Union Cabinet Minister Barnala in 1999 and because of Jayalalithaa's withdrawal of support to NDA govt, there was turmoil. Subramaniam Swamy & Sonia wanted NDA to fall and had solicited Jaya's help. Even their tea meeting in Delhi was hailed as a storm in a tea cup. A think tank calculated that if the govt had the support of three ADMK MPs in Lok Sabha, Vajpayee govt may survive. My Minister asked me to talk to my erstwhile colleague and friend who was Sasikala's husband , M Natarajan. I didn't have a mobile then and had  MN's land line number. But MN was not picking my calls. I contacted one Prabhakara in South Ex2 who was introduced to me by MN. He even had a Toyota car with Tamilnadu regd which he claimed was presented by MN. Prabhakara arrived at the residence of Minister Barnala on Tughlak road. He sought the details of the deal. We promised to revert in short time.  Minister called

Whom would I vote for in 2019?

Happy  Independence Day! PM Nehru called India’s independence a tryst with destiny, huge for a secular science admiring non practising Hindu to use words, tryst and destiny. Reminds me of Late Karunanidhi, a self professed rationalist, hindu hater and another secularist crying many times that it was in his horoscope that he had to face defeats and sufferings. Like the British whose merciless sordid and merciless exploitation of India was hailed by distortionist Lutyens as the greatest thing that happens to India and twisted to claim Brits as harbingers of modernism on an ancient civilisation, so were the Nehrus risen to high pedestals in school text books and history. The sacrifice of the Nehrus were mentioned repeatedly without recourse to facts and the imprisonment of Nehru was treated superior to that of others including Patel or Savarkar. Anyone questioning these propaganda were looked down with contempt . It was in late 60s that some political resistance to the Nehruvian

How the British screwed India? #Health

For he has health has hope; and who has hope has everything - Owen Arthur Dirty Indians is a term used often to deride and describe desis usually by westerners and by western studied Indians on India. Why dirty? Because majority of Indians have had no home toilets, many pee in the open, spit and throw garbage at Will, seen diseases ranging from plague to malaria to cholera ravage them and the roaming of street beggars reinforce this opinion. Was this how Indians described as savages by colonial civilised British existed over centuries and was this a new phenomenon that arose after some events in history? British are credited with bringing in western medicine to India, hailed as harbingers of public health. Were these facts and if so, what was their intentions in bringing medicine to India? Let’s study. Yajur Veda thousands of years ago spoke of a disease free world and the importance of a healthy mind. Atharva Veda has hymns for a healthy disease free life and for protection

How the British screwed India? # Agriculture

The founding father of USA, Thomas Jefferson said of British colonialists: “ Great Britain’s governing principles are conquest, colonisation, commerce, monopoly”. In India they went a step further by drenching the country with human gore. A nation so brutally ambitious & nasty claims credit for whatever was achieved by people of a soil over a period of time while acting innocent on the travesties they clamped to maim millions with Bible in hand . Worst they were many within India who earned a living by praising the British and by passing the back on Indians for the misery they were inflicted with. India was the worst victim of British machinations, hate and cowardice. We now turn to Agriculture in India before and after the arrival of the British. This is another article in this series of “How British screwed India”.   An impossible but  brief history on the fascinating Indian agriculture. Agriculture in India began around 10000 BC. It started with Agro pastrolism that m

How the British screwed India? # INDUSTRY

If an injury has to be done, it should be so severe that vengeance should not be feared. - Niccolo Machiavelli. I have no doubt that colonial Brits achieved what they set out to. So much so the gullible naive victims of hate called desis or Indians , still continue to admire the white skin as something noble and wonderful without regard to history or facts.  England is credited in our history text books with the contemporary Industrial revolution of the 1800s. We are taught how British revolutionised the world through cotton spinning, by introduction of steam engines, iron making and invention of machine tools including the printing press.  I place here some points that have long been suppressed from text books and history primarily because it spoke about the glory of India and her past achievements in science. The effect is that colonial British strike awe and wonder in the numbed Indians and white skin has become adorable. Even after independence, the Britished leaders o
