Like the Congress Party that imitated the Colonial British in misusing Govt machineries and institutions, #CBI continues to be an instrument of subterfuge for governments. The credibility suffered when Indira Ghandy misused it to threaten opposition and governments run by opposition.
CBI is a master of running errands for politicians. The Ghandy dynasty nurtured it as a sychophantic force to serve the needs of political causes. The fact that CBI majorly failed to get most scamsters, corrupt politicians and bureaucrats behind the bars is proof. There may have been some honest officers but exceptions prove the rule.
Whatever happened to enquires on many former CBI officers including A P Singh and Rakesh Sinha? Nothing will ever come out of such dramas.
The fact is that the Congress Party continued to run CBI even after NDA had arrived. How many from the Congress party or from govts were convicted by CBI? Is it because Congressmen are epitome of values as propagated by secular media? Even the high profile 2G case was enquired casually and NDA was guilty of giving total freedom to CBI. They failed to control and rein in the Congress elements in devoted congressmen in bureaucracy. Statistics of high conviction rate is to divert attention from hardcore questions. Subramaniam Swamy was right when he said there were moles in CBI.
PM Modi has stuck a honest blow by acting on the top officers of CBI. So did the SC which for a change thought to disagree with the claims of the dynasty. The person who was most hurt was obviously Rahul Gandhi as his sources of power, information and support in CBI have been sidelined. Expect him to cry more.
RG claimed that the CBI Director was planning to investigate into Rafale on his own volition. Can CBI investigate a case of deal between two governments on its own without reference from judiciary or government? Impossible. There has been no precedence.
It’s good that CBI has been exposed. From the UPSC that failed to chose Men of caliber as bureaucrats to the NPA in Hyderabad that failed to nurture values by their training , it is a hard fact that the Government that failed to encourage men of integrity and caliber become officers and top officers. The system of treating seniority as ability, has been a let down.
The government needs to revamp our CBI , IB and State Police by converting this contemporary threat into an opportunity. I believe PM Narendramodi will deliver! Though it won’t be easy for him to clean the stable.
