It’s often said that it is those good people who refuse to defend what’s right in time are responsible for any rotten state of affairs more than those bad people who directly cause them. I propose to defend the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh here. We have kept ourself quiet far too long to the advantage of charlatan propagandists who are hand in hand with those who are compulsively crime prone and bane of the society. Incessant slandering of RSS has roots in those elements that fear as RSS is seen a threat to them because RSS’ impeccable integrity and unshakeable convictions can dethrone them from pursuing their narrow pretensions of pursuit to power.
Unable to find specific faults or events , the following three charges are frequently repeated to tarnish RSS:
#1 RSS did not participate in Independence struggle. Refused to hoist national flag.
#2 An RSS guy shot dead Mahatma Gandhi
#3 Its an extremist organisation spewing venom.
Congress party, self styled secularists, media supported by dynasty, Dravidian parties and the Commies are in the forefront of this hate propaganda. At the outset, I must confess that I have never ever met an RSS ideologue till now or been friendly with an RSS member since becoming an adult. But I have got to know personally many habitual haters of RSS especially from Congress and Dravidian politics that made me sit up and search for facts to understand these slanders.

RSS had demanded a single color flag during ore independence instead of a multicoloured one and this gets twisted as refusal to respect tricolour. Hedgewar’s imprisonment for freedom struggle is belittled with bluffs that he never went to jail again. Note this ‘again’. Means he went to jail but did not repeat the experience. Congress party and Secular media go out of the way to claim that Nathuram Godse was an RSS member when he murdered Mahatma. Even assuming he was a member, a stray incident remains a tool for politics. When a congressman was caught as an antinational, the party either keeps mum or washes hands of that person. But high standards reposed and demanded on RSS by many secular organisations that are store houses of hypocrisy and scoundrels and where exemptions to the rule could hardly be found.
The fact elitist PM Jawaharlal Nehru banned commoners from hoisting national flag is manipulated to claim that RSS did not hoist it after independence. While the refusal of communists and Dravidian leaders to salute the flag was accepted as azaadi. So much for the honesty of jealous insecure baiters of RSS. It’s the same Congress which Mahatma wanted disbanded after independence as he feared the party had done with the it’s original purpose and could go against an independent India and the treacherous Commies who worked against independence and were never part of any national movement that spread propaganda on RSS.
Propagandists have truly tasted success over 70 years concealing, twisting facts and pulling wool over the nation. Their intention to malign something was always an effort to conceal and protect the real culprits and to project that Iam better than them image. Let me put forth some additional points on RSS vs Congress during Independence struggle.
#1 Congress was never ever considered for banning by British as the Brits did not consider congress as real threats like Netaji Bose’s INA or RSS.
#2. RSS was curbed by the British initially.
#3 When Second World War broke out, the Brits contacted organisations like Hindu Maha Sabha to help in recruiting for the army and civic guards. These organisations included Nathuram Godse’s Hindu Rashtriya Sena. These organisations agreed. But RSS refused.
#4 In 1932, a CP Govt circular noted that RSS has started taking interest in the political movements of the nation and warned Govt servants from participating in RSS activities.
#5 In June 1939, the central provinces Govt proposed a ban on RSS.
#6 In August 1940, the Brits Govt banned drills and excercises by RSS.
#7 RSS participates in Quit India Movement. In Chimur and Ashti, RSS dominated congress processions. Those hanged or received life imprisonments were mostly of RSS.
#8 In 1943, Brits ban RSS and raid their offices. They fear a combined RSS and INA may enforce a coup on the government.
Yet despite all these facts, today’s politicians camouflage history and present a fake narrative against RSS. What’s that hurts these angels of virtues? Why was Congress never banned by the British if British saw it as a threat to their rule? Werent the top brass of congress partying with the colonial rulers in the night after attending satyagraha during day? Can we forget the cheap flippant flirtings of a famous Indian congressman with the wife of a British head of Govt openly that made India a laughing stock in international circuits?
If one checks the history or the website rss.org, we find it as a body that believes in Swami Vivekananda’s words “strength is life”. It is a character building organisation unlike anyther on the planet. The Junior Chamber of US comes a distant second by its goals of personality mounding with its “Earth’s great treasure lies in human personality”. Nowhere can you find a hate word on anyone in any material of RSS. It simply repeats that individuals were responsible for what they were and that bharatwasis should help each other. A force of true patriotism and social consciousness!
What are the Shakas/ meetings of RSS about? They teach personal hygiene, public Health, Self defence, Patriotism, knowledge on culture, a sense of selfless service, respect for elders, parents and women and most importantly, personal discipline in the life of an Indian. Those who blindly propagate against RSS ought to attend their programs to get a sense of the organisation. I hope to receive an invitation from RSS after this article. Those who attended them as guests have high words on them. I had personally seen RSS workers clearing debris and carrying corpses on the aftermath of tsunami in Tamilnadu. Bodies of Muslims and Christians were also carried and given dignified burials. When the stench of corpses enveloped many districts and Govt machinery fell unable to handle humanitarian issues, RSS were the good samiritans who rose to the challenges. They had done the same service during earthquakes in Gujarat and cyclones in Andhra and media highlighted them. Former Punjab CM Barnala told me that many Sikhs owe their lives during the post Indira death genocide in Delhi because they were given asylum and protection by families of RSS soldeirs. Can these actions can ever be attributed to any extremist or terrorist organisation anywhere on earth? A kind thoughtful socially conscious unselfish army of volunteers are smeared as a hate organisation on and by media. Yet, thankless politicians have no spine to speaks about the glorious work of RSS but can only weave a fiction of terrorism against them. It’s nasty horrible propaganda by the powerful and corrupt who stood indifferent during calamities and catastrophes and found them as opportunities to amass wealth.
Congress party repeatedly gloats on killing of RSS members in Karnataka and elsewhere. When Bengaluru saw the murder of 24 such bravehearts by goons, the congress party on the eve of elections backtracked to claim that one person out of the total 24 was still alive,as if this exonerated then and turned them innocent of their crimes. Kannur in Kerala sees regular butchering of RSS but when RSS responds in self defence that becomes news. West Bengal under Commie Jothi Basu saw lakhs murdered but inept congress Govt in Centre stayed mum. So did our dynamic media. Victims are called as terrorists according to an agenda of protecting the perpetrators. Media has an agenda and a narrative that’s part of its business. RSS is the threat to those enemies of the nation. So the enemies of nation firing on RSS so they can have a free hand on India.
Courts and enquiry commissions could never find a connect that RSS motivated Nathuram Godse to murder Mahatma Gandhi. Yet some go out of the way to prove that Godse was a member of RSS when he did the crime. But leaders like Nijilangappa, K Kamaraj, S K Patil who left congress in anger and frustration are hailed as Congressmen without proof of history or facts. Body of PM Narasimha Rao was not allowed into congress headquarters because he showed character in governance. Even Mani Shankar Aiyer was declared non congress after he asked Pakistan to help in eliminating PM Narendramodi. Wasn’t he a congress man when he repeated his hate tirades on India ? Wasn’t his charades typical of any congress leader?
History says India was partitioned to satisfy the greed of Nehru for PM position. It was also a fact that if Mahatma had gone by democratic verdict that saw 12 out of 15 provinces voting for Sardar Patel, India may even have avoided partition. Mahatma forced Patel to withdraw from election after counting was done. During emergency dynast Sanjay Ghandy forced sterilisation on Muslims and removed slums occupied by Muslims. Emergency,result of the ruthless dark dictatorship of Indira saw lakhs disappear without traces. On the aftermath of Indira Ghandy’s death, Sikhs were targeted enmasse in Delhi and Rajiv Ghandy called it as akin to to the aftermath of the fall of a big tree. Reports say that he went around delhi overseeing the slaughter in the night. Later he helped attack Tamils in Srilanka with IPKF. It’s a known fact who created Bhindranwale and the Sikh divide. India had .5% gdp for many decades and Nehru squandered the millions of pounds received from British as if there was no tomorrow. Yet, a PM aspirant from the congress party now says his party stands for love hoping past hate crimes of congress will be forgotten. They also twist that personal abuse and disrespect of PM Modi is an act of love. It is this hate party that carries on systematic attack on RSS as they see in RSS a determined threat and block to its return. The discipline, depth, goodness in RSS is seen a danger to the real goals of congress. Anywhere else on the planet, corrupt party like congress would be banned as threat to constitution and unity of India. But by sheer propaganda and willing media, Congress still occupies political space and by propaganda hopes to rule and ravage India again.
The argument for RSS could go on. Let’s get some neutral references, Have you heard of the famous judge of Supreme Court of India, Justice Thomas? A Christian and a Keralite. He was considered controversial for his equanimity, sharpness of mind, a total detachment from narrow secretarianism were his hallmarks. Though he confirmed the death sentences in Rajiv Ghandy assassination case, he desired that they may converted to life sentences due to the 23 year delay in judgement. He recommended a reduced fee structure for unaided professional institutions in Kerala. He opposed the Targeted and Communal violence bill as against the constitution of India. On the Mullaperiyar dam issue, he wrote a dissenting order claiming the dam as safe which rattled fellow Keralites. He exonerated RSS of any involvement in Mahatma’s murder despite being a Christian.
Justice Thomas who had all his education in Christian institutions did a personal study on all cases slapped on RSS. He found that despite Indira Ghandy’s desire to frame RSS, the institution was impeccable. RSS did support some positives in Indira rule. Impressed, Justice Thomas admitted his daughter to RSS. Why target RSS? RSS is a character building organisation on a mission of protecting heritage, traditions and values of this punya bhoomi. Secularism means equal respect for all religions and government keeping equidistant to all religions. But in India, it has come to mean meddling with traditions while pampering foreign religions. This affects nation's history, heritage and traditions. To some political parties that survive on pampering foreign religions that demand annihilation of heritage, any organisation like RSS could appear a threat. Because when people are strong, exploiting them gets difficult and impossible. It is by a weak India, congress, Commies, secular , Dravidian parties stand to survive. These parties divide , highlight past divisions, create language politics, etc so they can enjoy power without accountability. RSS appears focused on building a new India but with firm roots to her past. So Congress party desperate for power continues its tirades against RSS without proof. Latest was the claim that the yellow clad cop who was firing at violent mobs in Tuticorin two days ago was an RSS by Mr Rahul Ghandy. By RG’s logic, the victory of CSK in IPL may be due to RSS as they all wore yellow. Desperate Congress tries desperate spins.
Kanchi Mutt was frequented by Indira Ghandy during Mahaswami days. The seer had this to say on the differences between an RSS and a non RSS were simple. If an ordinary man says five lies in a day, an RSS may utter one or none. If an ordinary man goes quietly with his life, the RSS will try to help a person in need.
