The Dutch loot - Part Two of European colonialism

Timelines for Hindu heritage and history often have proved challenging to the human mind and are often an expose of the limitations of mind. So too are the details of the appalling tragedies inflicted by greedy Europeans on Hindu civilisation as well as the earlier Muslim rulers. They have cleverly been erased by the invaders along with stupendous hindu achievements. Worse is that today hindu achievements are ridiculed as non existent while anything western is hailed as progressive including adultery. So, it happened to one of the six abodes of Lord Karthikeya popularly known as Lord Muruga, at Tiruchendur. A temple believed to have been carved out of rock on the style of Ellora now appears to be a shade of its wonderful past. The main guilty were the Dutch known today to the world as Netherlands. The Dutch after facing repeated defeats by Portughese were limited to Ceylon. In February 1649, the Dutch attacked Portughese in India and occupied Tiruchendur and Tuticorin. After the ...

EVR Periyar: A checkup on facts & propaganda

If you were ever revolted by the plethora of roadside statues in India, then credit for this ever rising craze should go to that one man tsunami that brought about that infamous “Statue Culture “ to EV Ramasamy Naicker known as Periyar to his followers. As was usual with Dravidian politics, this focus and obsession of statues  ironically began as an anti idol movement to reason out faith and beliefs of Hinduism to pamper to Islamic and Christian fundamentalists and as admiration of anything western.  Breaking of idols of Lord Ganesha in Salem when Congress ruled Tamilnadu and India during early 1950s didn’t elicit even murmurs of intolerance as Hindus were subdued for over a thousand years and Secular congress was a mere continuation of that colonial British rule that was indifferent and insensitive to majoritarian Hindu sentiments. EVR called Idols as lifeless stones and called out those beliefs of honouring and worshipping them as crass and superstitious. Because of fundam...

The Art of turning Excellence into mediocrity. The fall of Anna University

-Excellence is about standards, high standards- If someone ever thought that Tamilnadu’s first premier engineering university is a place of excellence, that thought was result of successfully planned deceit and building of a myth by constant propaganda unconnected to any kind of facts. From frequent name changes starting with PAUT to AUT to the present name as well as to the sadist changes about the jurisdiction and structure of university, the focus remains on the size and the physical grandeur of an institution. All dramas related to AU lead to a single conclusion: ANNA university has been a toy in the hands of Dravidian politicians since inception , where the learning of science of engineering has been marauded by twisting systems, lowering of standards to facilitate populism, where teaching gets vandalised. AU is a perfect example of the rotten pudding called Tamilnadu.  Let’s give due credit to the university on facts. ANNA University is a brand. The main...

Keep Calm and Trust in Modi

A singular visual difference between BJP and other parties of India is that while the cadres of other parties are blindly Sychophantic of party leadership in the name of loyalty, the BJP cadres with seismic sensitivity often find fault with their own leadership especially the  Prime Minister with an ‘I told you so’ righteous attitude, sometimes join hands with opposition in vitriolic condemnation and often dish out plateful of ideas and advises for the party and leadership to survive. But it is to their credit that notwithstanding their loyalty to Hindutva and Modi, their love for their nation precedes that of the party and it’s leadership. The recent electoral setback for Narendramodi and Bharathiya Janata Party set many tails wag intensely and amplified this attitude as many supporters and followers of BJP and Narendramodi became instant psephologists, political commentators and turned experts on election management. Some provided  Narendramodi ideas on governance and...
